Western Digital Rolls Out New USB Drives In Indian Market

Western Digital has made announcement about the launching of its portable USB drives named as “My Passport Essential” in the Indian market.Housed in a beautiful glossy black finish, the newly launched devices weigh just 5 ounces, which can slide into the pocket smoothly.

Sharad Srivastava, director, sales, India and South Asia, Western Digital said, “The newly designed My Passport Essential Drives are the perfect travel-friendly storage device to hold the rich media content generated by higher resolution photos and HD videos and music.”

“The desire to carry and keep their digital files close at hand continues to grow, and this new drive offers a sleek and stylish solution with plenty of storage capacity for consumers on the move,” Mr. Sharad added.The new compact and trendy USB drives are available in different capacities including 320GB, 250GB, 160GB and 120GB. Equipped with sync and encryption software, the USB drives are bus powered and do not require an external power adapter.

The Sync software lets users to take desktop content whenever and wherever by synchronizing necessary private files and Microsoft Outlook information on the PC. The 128-bit encryption protects the data in case My Passport Essential is lost. In spite of its smaller size, the new drives are able to carry thousands of songs, videos, and photos in a secure manner.

The Google software on the WD My Passport Essential USB drives help users to track files with the help of Google Desktop Search Tool. With the Picasa photo organiser software, the users can also manage photos, and simplify web searches with the help of Google Toolbar search bar.

Aspire Gemstone 8920G:Acer releases new High end Blu-Ray Laptop

Acer on Wednesday launched a premium entertainment notebook with a high-definition display and optional Blu-ray disc drive, challengingHewlett-Packard and Dell. for the high end of the mobile computer market.

The Aspire Gemstone 8920G is the first of what the company is calling its "Blue" series, which refers to the notebook's blue, black, and silver color scheme and interior/exterior lighting effects. Within the stylish design, Acer has added a variety of entertainment features that would appeal to people looking for more than a business notebook.
Breaking away from traditional laptop design, the new model will feature a touch sensitive media console, called "CineDash", that according to Acer allows you to "manage entertainment in seconds, as well as navigate menus, adjust volume and control media on the fly."

The laptop will also be one of the first laptops to offer an unconventional 16-inch screen size to benefit from 16:9 ratio widescreen movies. Purchasers will be able to chose from a Full HD CineCrystal LCD panel with 1920x1080 resolution or a HD CineCrystal LCD screen at 1366x768 pixel resolution, 8ms response time and native 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.

The new product has an 18.4-inch footprint that includes a high-definition liquid-crystal display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Powering the machine isIntel ( Centrino-brand mobile platform, comprising a Core 2 Duo processor and PM965 Express Chipset. The notebook also comes with built-in Wi-Fi support.The 8920G is available with up to two 320 GB hard disk drives, and a high-definition Blu-ray disc drive. A standard DVD drive is also available. In addition, buyers can choose between an Nvidia GeForce 9650M GS or 9500M GS graphics card. Both support HD content and Microsoft's DirectX 10 graphics technology, which is exclusive to Windows Vista.

The notebook also includes an integrated TV tuner, six integrated speakers, and support for Dolby Home Theater sound technology. In addition, there's a touch-sensitive media console for navigating menus and adjusting volume without going through the standard Windows menu.The Aspire 6920 also features an HDMI port with HDCP support, Dolby Home Theater technology including CineSurround, Tuba CineBass booster, and True5.1 output plus a specially crafted tube-style Acer Tuba CineBass subwoofer that exceeds 10 Watts.

Other specs include a 320GB HDD, a 6-in-1 card reader that supports the most common card formats, and a TV Tuner for digital television on some models. The Aspire notebooks come with Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate or Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed. Sony Ericsson's G700 and G900:touchscreen phone

It looks like the rumors about the brand spanking new G series from Sony Ericsson were absolutely spot on. Mobile World Congress has seen the introduction of the G700 and G900, phones that SE is referring to as "touchscreen organizers with a broad appeal." The G700, the lesser of the two, features a 2.4 inch display (touchscreen, of course) with a 3.2 megapixel camera.The G900 and G700 belong to a new line of Sony Ericsson midrange phones with dialpads and full touchscreens. Both have calendar and organizer functionalities that take advantage of the touchscreen (for example, you can scribble notes on the page). Only the G900 has Wi-Fi and a 5MP camera with a touchscreen UI for taking, viewing and editing photos.
The G700 gets a 3.2MP cam. The phones have a 2.4-inch screen, which has been seen in a photo being manipulated via finger, but there is a stylus for more precision, too. Doesn't look like these support multitouch, but it's nice seeing. The G900 looks a lot better than the G700.The new G700 and G900 phones are designed to give back time. They place personal organiser features and easy finger-touch control within familiar form factors.

The G900 ups the ante with integrated WiFi and a 5 megapixel autofocus cam with a continuous shooting mode. The big draw on both models appears to be the ability to jot notes on the display using the stylus and save them as sticky notes right to the phones' home screens -- kinda nifty, we'll admit. Both will launch in the second quarter featuring GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 radios with UMTS 2100, so using them Stateside isn't really in the cards. The G700 will be available in Silk Bronze, while the upmarket G900 will feature striking Dark Red and Dark Brown options
