Sony’s recently introduced Handycam HDR-CX-7 is the world’s smallest and lightest AVCHD high-definition camcorder. With the supplied battery, the unit weighs a mere 15 ounces. The lens of the CX7 has 10X optical zoom and it is very sharp at catching the images. It offers a decent reach with its 35-mm equivalent of 400mm at the telephoto end. The Auto focus option provides a lot of flexibility while shooting. It enables the camera to adjust to the changes such as the nature of the object, lighting conditions, distance, etc. To point out a minor drawback, there is one feature in the HDR-CX7; it stores the video to its MemoryStick Pro Duo cards. The other models Sony released are SR5 and SR7. Both cameras provide with a 2.7 inch LCD screen on which you can admire the videos you are taking. You can also look at a thing from a closer angle from now on, thanks to their 10x optical zoom. The SR5 has memory of 40 GB and can shoot up to five hours of 1080i HD AVCHD video. In this chapter, the SR7 gives it a lesson with its 60 GB of internal memory and the ability of shooting up to 14 hours of 1080i video. You can buy the SR5 model for 1100$ and the SR& for 1400$.
