Western Digital has made announcement about the launching of its portable USB drives named as “My Passport Essential” in the Indian market.Housed in a beautiful glossy black finish, the newly launched devices weigh just 5 ounces, which can slide into the pocket smoothly.
Sharad Srivastava, director, sales, India and South Asia, Western Digital said, “The newly designed My Passport Essential Drives are the perfect travel-friendly storage device to hold the rich media content generated by higher resolution photos and HD videos and music.”
“The desire to carry and keep their digital files close at hand continues to grow, and this new drive offers a sleek and stylish solution with plenty of storage capacity for consumers on the move,” Mr. Sharad added.The new compact and trendy USB drives are available in different capacities including 320GB, 250GB, 160GB and 120GB. Equipped with sync and encryption software, the USB drives are bus powered and do not require an external power adapter.
The Sync software lets users to take desktop content whenever and wherever by synchronizing necessary private files and Microsoft Outlook information on the PC. The 128-bit encryption protects the data in case My Passport Essential is lost. In spite of its smaller size, the new drives are able to carry thousands of songs, videos, and photos in a secure manner.
The Google software on the WD My Passport Essential USB drives help users to track files with the help of Google Desktop Search Tool. With the Picasa photo organiser software, the users can also manage photos, and simplify web searches with the help of Google Toolbar search bar.
The WD Passport Essential USB Drive is available at Rs. 9,500; the 250GB WD Passport Essential USB Drive comes in at Rs. 6,800; the 160GB WD Passport Essential USB is priced at Rs. 4,700 and lastly the 120GB WD Passport Essential USB Drive is priced at Rs. 4,200. At present, the new WD Passport Essential USB Drive is available in the country through WD’s distributors, selected retail stores and online retailers.
