Samsung G810 5.0 megapixel camera phone

The Samsung G810 is a solid mobile phone, designed around the S60 operating system. This new handset from Samsung is destined to challenge the Nokia N95 the ultimate mobile handset.

First impressions, it looks the part. It is encased in a brush metallic style body, and the front panel has four soft keys and a D-Pad style navigation key. The send/end keys on the handset are not situated where you would normally expect to find them, instead they are located further down the keypad, near the standard keypad. This does prove annoying in ever day-to-day usage.

The screen of the phone is a quality TFT screen, supporting up to 256,000 colours, and measuring in at 320 x 240 pixels and 2.6 inches in size. The screen is bright and clear in most conditions except when viewed in the brightest of sunlight outside.

Incorporated into the handset is a 5MP with autofocus and a Xenon flash. This helps produce quality pictures in even the poorest lighting conditions. Face recognition helps with the autofocus to produce really clear, sharp pictures. The camera also includes a 3 x optical zoom, similar to that found on the Samsung G800. Video recording is equipped, and records video at VGA resolution.

Built in is a GPS receiver, which would allow you to use the handset as a portable . This works well, for example with the latest version of Google Maps. Google maps has a native S60 application available, and worked extremely well when tested on a Nokia N82. Support for GPS also means you can utilise the Geotagging feature. Geotagging allows you to record location details of a picture taken on the handset, so when you upload the photos to your favoured online storage space or blog details of where the picture was taken can be seen by friends and family.g810 5 megapixel phone

The Samsung G810 has a built in music player which supports a wide variety of music formats, including MP3, AAC, AAC+, aAAC+ and WMA. With support for Bluetooth 2.0 you can listen to your music with a compatible set of wireless headphones. Should you get bored with your own music collection the G810 has a built in FM Stereo radio so you can log in to your favourite FM radio station. A wired headset is needed for radio use, but the Samsung G810 does have a 3.5mm audio output jack so you can use your own favourite headphones.

Connectivity wise the G810 is enabled with WiFi and HSDPA mobile Broadband, offering complimentary options for downloading large files at high speed. Memory isn’t an issue for storage, with 130MB onboard memory and support for Micro SD cards, currently available up to 8GB in capacity.

Overall the Samsung G810 is a nice looking handset and its feature set suggests it should prove an appealing alternative to the top end S60 Nokia phones

World's first bendable usb drive

According to designer Damjan Stankovic, there's a serious flaw with the majority of flash drives on the market - they stick out of your PC/laptop. Which means there's a good chance of catching one and doing it, the computer or yourself some damage. Which is why he produced the USBee.

It offers one simple improvement on the typical drive - flexibility. Yes, you can bend this ergonomically-designed drive in any direction, giving your drive and computer some protection from accidents. it also features a vented housing for cooling and the obvious protective cap.

The drive recently won the first prize at the MS Industrial USB Competition held by the Serbian Design Community forum DizajnZona. Whether that's enough to turn this concept into reality should become clear in the coming months.

MIT's Green Laptop Computer Wins British Design Award for 2008

March 19 (Bloomberg) -- A computer designed by Yves Behar for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology won the top prize in the "Brit Design of the year" competition.

The child-size green laptop is being sent to schools in developing countries. It is energy efficient and can be charged by hand-cranked power, said the judges at the award ceremony held last night at London's Design museum. The device forms part of a ``One Laptop Per Child'' nonprofit program for MIT, with support from Quanta Computer Inc.

``This is a striking demonstration that proves design to a ruthless budget can achieve great results,'' said Design Museum Director Deyan Sudjic in an e-mailed release today. The laptop was among 100 designs nominated, including Kate Moss's clothing and perfume logo, an Yves Saint Laurent tote bag, the new Fiat 500 and Paris's Velib bike-hire plan

Samsung has launched five new, sleek and stylish mobile phones, namely SGH i450 music phone, SGH-G800 camera phone, i550 and D 880 business handsets, along with Samsung J210. At the event, the company also announced that popular Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is the brand Ambassador of Samsung’s newly announced mobile phones.
The Music phone, SGH i450 incorporates 3D surround sound powered by ICE Power amplifiers by Bang & Olufsen, to deliver a Mobile Theater experience. It comes with a music wheel and dual-slider design. Users can now store, access and juggle music with ease.

The Samsung SGH-G800 5 MP camera phone is equipped with 3x optical zoom, face detection, Xenon flash and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR).The Samsung G800 has been equipped with a 3.7 Volt Lithium-Ion battery. According to the specifications the battery offers a standby time of 370 hours and a talk-time of over eight hours. This time is accurate when the cell phone is exclusively used for calling and sending SMS messages. When the integrated camera is frequently used, battery time drastically reduces and the cell phone has to be recharged after several hours. This is a vast disadvantage when you’re on the road a lot making extensive use of the Samsung SGH-G800’s other functions. The SGH-G800 is unique in its class thanks to its three times optical zoom and face detection. According to Samsung the G800 has been equipped with a camera that can fully compete with a regular digital compact camera. I think we can leave that remark for what it is. Samsung also claim that the Samsung G800 leaves all mobile phone competitors far behind. Is it true what Samsung is trying to make us believe? And are they able to fulfil the promises they made? You can read it in the following LetsGoMobile Samsung G800 review.

Sony Intoduces Rolling Music Player

Sony Corp.‘s new dancing, egg-shaped music player rolled into a dimly lit Tokyo hotel Monday, blinking its flaps and flashing its lights in time to each tune it played. The $354, 11-ounce Rolly, set to go on sale in Japan Sept. 29, is small enough to fit in your palm and comes with stereo speakers, 1 gigabyte of internal flash memory and a battery good for about five hours of music.

The smooth, white Rolly also can spin in place so fast it turns into a blur, and its sensors enable a user to control volume by turning the player clockwise or counterclockwise or switch tunes by pushing or pulling the gadget. The Rolly doesn’t have an American counterpart, but it will go up against Japanese robot maker ZMP Inc.‘s Miuro at home. Miuro, which looks like a white ball caught inside an egg, wheels about in time to music when an iPod is locked onto it.

Sony plans to sell packages of moves and tunes online for Rolly. And users will be able to program the Bluetooth-capable product on a PC using software that analyzes music and produces choreography to match and then sends the programs to the Rolly, Sony said.

Not quite a pet, the Rolly won’t take over from the Aibo robot dog, which Sony discontinued last year as part of its restructuring effort, disappointing avid owners. It can be set as an alarm clock, though.

Sony Ericsson's G700 and G900:touchscreen phone

It looks like the rumors about the brand spanking new G series from Sony Ericsson were absolutely spot on. Mobile World Congress has seen the introduction of the G700 and G900, phones that SE is referring to as "touchscreen organizers with a broad appeal." The G700, the lesser of the two, features a 2.4 inch display (touchscreen, of course) with a 3.2 megapixel camera. The G900 and G700 belong to a new line of Sony Ericsson midrange phones with dialpads and full touchscreens. Both have calendar and organizer functionalities that take advantage of the touchscreen (for example, you can scribble notes on the page). Only the G900 has Wi-Fi and a 5MP camera with a touchscreen UI for taking, viewing and editing photos.
The G700 gets a 3.2MP cam. The phones have a 2.4-inch screen, which has been seen in a photo being manipulated via finger, but there is a stylus for more precision, too. Doesn't look like these support multitouch, but it's nice seeing. The G900 looks a lot better than the G700.The new G700 and G900 phones are designed to give back time. They place personal organiser features and easy finger-touch control within familiar form factors.

Barcelona, Spain - 10th February 2008 - Sony Ericsson today launched a new generation of phone: Touchscreen organisers with a broad appeal. The G700 and G900 phones are essential tools designed to organise the lives of all those with busy schedules to juggle, both at home and at work. The G700 is here to help you live your life to the full. This personal organiser in-your-pocket keeps your contacts, calendars, notes, pictures and favourite Web sites all in one place and just a fingertip away. Touch and go.
The G900 has all the functions of the G700 with the added features of a unique new 5.0 megapixel Touch Auto Focus camera, touch photo album and editor. Perfect for those looking for a one-touch media experience combined with their organiser.
"Sony Ericsson is delivering touchscreen and innovative organiser capabilities to a wide audience without compromising on the size or shape of the phone. Both the G700 and G900 have regular keyboards and are no larger than a regular phone." says Martin Winkler, Director Global Marketing and Head of Multimedia Web at Sony Ericsson. "These phones are ideal for users that are only interested in making their lives simpler. It's not about technology for the sake of it."

Sony Ericsson G700 phone

One-touch full organiser functions
Touch controlled Notes application - write and draw your memo's
Large 2.4" display with unique single touch control menu
3,2 megapixel camera
Compact size
Calendar is King
Access your calendar, reach family and friends and scribble and save your notes on your phone. With the G700, you can jot down a note on the screen with a stylus, just as you would with a pen on paper, and save it on your phone's desktop to remind you - just as you'd stick a note on the fridge. You can even draw a map to the local shop or doodle personal notes to send them to your loved ones! Holding everything that is important to you wherever you go, the G700 is the most natural way to manage life. There's no longer a need to have your home calendar separate from work - it works with you, the way you do.

Sony Ericsson G900 phone

The G900 ups the ante with integrated WiFi and a 5 megapixel autofocus cam with a continuous shooting mode. The big draw on both models appears to be the ability to jot notes on the display using the stylus and save them as sticky notes right to the phones' home screens -- kinda nifty, we'll admit. Both will launch in the second quarter featuring GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 radios with UMTS 2100, so using them Stateside isn't really in the cards. The G700 will be available in Silk Bronze, while the upmarket G900 will feature striking Dark Red and Dark Brown options

HDR-CX Camrecorder from Sony

Sony’s recently introduced Handycam HDR-CX-7 is the world’s smallest and lightest AVCHD high-definition camcorder. With the supplied battery, the unit weighs a mere 15 ounces. The camcorder offers ultra-portability with a great feature set.The new camcorder can provide up to three hours of full HD 1080 resolution video on an 8-GB Memory Stick Pro Duo. Connection to a PC is effortless via USB to back-up and/or edit media.
. In the picture you can see the HDR-CX model, Sony’s first flash-based HD camcorder. Sony proclaims this model as “the smallest and lightest AVCHD HD camcorder” available now on the market. It can record up to 30 minutes of high quality 1080i video on its 4 GB Pro Duo Memory Stick. You can buy it for 1200$, which is a definite competitor price for Panasonic and their line of HDC cameras. The HDR-CX is Sony’s first flash based Camcorder. It can record videos up to thirty minutes on a 4 GB memory stick, and is considered “the smallest and lightest camcorder on the market today”. The lens of the CX7 has 10X optical zoom and it is very sharp at catching the images. It offers a decent reach with its 35-mm equivalent of 400mm at the telephoto end. The Auto focus option provides a lot of flexibility while shooting. It enables the camera to adjust to the changes such as the nature of the object, lighting conditions, distance, etc. To point out a minor drawback, there is one feature in the HDR-CX7; it stores the video to its MemoryStick Pro Duo cards. Therefore, if you wish to shoot more, you need to purchase one high-density card. On an average, an 8GB Pro Duo card can carry about one-hour of HD video in it. There is an expansion slot provided in the HDR-CX7 for this purpos

The other models Sony released are SR5 and SR7. Both cameras provide with a 2.7 inch LCD screen on which you can admire the videos you are taking. You can also look at a thing from a closer angle from now on, thanks to their 10x optical zoom. The SR5 has memory of 40 GB and can shoot up to five hours of 1080i HD AVCHD video. In this chapter, the SR7 gives it a lesson with its 60 GB of internal memory and the ability of shooting up to 14 hours of 1080i video. You can buy the SR5 model for 1100$ and the SR& for 1400$.

The Samsung Q1U Premium UMPC released

The Samsung Q1U-EL is a 1.5-pound, ultra portable notebook computer. Compared to other ultra light notebooks on the market, it is very inexpensive at around $825. Has Wi-Fi (wireless connectivity) built-in.The device weighs 1.9 pounds and has a 1.33 Intel core solo processor. The tiny, split keyboard from the original Q1U is slightly improved but still not great. It is, however, great for entering passwords or quick URLs. The speakers sound terrific and it’s probably the most usable of the ultra-mobile devices that I’ve tried. But those aren’t the great aspects of it. These are…
One of the biggest complaints about many mobile devices is that they just run too hot.it’s not pleasant to use a device under those conditions. under the heaviest load so far, the device has only been slightly warm.It can hear both the fan and the hard drive but the sounds are really quite quiet. between a lack of heat and the quiet using the device is a pleasure

Samsung Nv8 Digital Camera

Samsung introduced its premium NV (New Vision) range of high-spec digital compact cameras in the summer of 2006, the company's fortunes in the digital camera market have dramatically improved, and looking at the NV8 it's easy to see why. Launched in August last year alongside the similarly-styled 10-megapixel NV15 and 12-megapixel NV20, the NV8 is a very stylish 8-megapixel pocket compact camera featuring a 3x zoom Schneider Kreuznach lens, a 2.5-inch 230k monitor and a wide range of options all operated by Samsung's innovative Smart Touch control system.
The camera's smart contemporary design is obviously an important selling point, but unlike a lot of fashion cameras it doesn't sacrifice usability for style. The distinctive shape, which it shares with many other models in the NV range, is very easy to hold, with a large handgrip on the front with a rubberised insert for extra grip, and a protruding thumb grip on the back that also doubles as the strap lug. The camera's body is all metal, and the matt black finish of my review sample proved to be very resistant to marks and scratches. While it is small and light, it feels solid and well made. The lens does protrude somewhat when deactivated, and the unusual shape of the body means that the NV8 isn't the slimmest camera in the world, but it is by no means bulky and fits well into a pocket or handbag for a night out. The camera measures 96.5 x 60 x 27mm, but for some reason Samsung's official website insists that it is actually 18.6mm thick, which it is if you don't include the lens or the handgrip. What exactly is the point of this practice of measuring the camera at the thinnest point of the body? It's like me saying I'm only five feet tall, if you don't include my head and neck. It's not fooling anyone, and is a completely irrelevant measurement for any practical purpose. For example, if you're considering buying a camera pouch to protect your new NV8 and want to know if it will fit, you want to know how thick it is including the lens and the handgrip, not without. These features are not removable, and are undeniably part of the camera body, so surely it makes some sort of sense to include them in any measurement of that body?.
The NV8, including its lens and handgrip, is currently selling for around £130, which is a very good price for its specification. Considering its unusual features and design it's difficult to find a close comparison, but the Nikon Coolpix S210 is around £150, the Canon Powershot A580 is around £140, the Olympus FE-280 is £130,

The LG KF600 sports a sleek minimalist design with smooth round edges and a black finish.
